FAQ

How To Use
It couldn't be 1..2..3 easier!
- Wipe the rim to remove any debris
- Place vacuum lid on the can
- Connect a vacuum pump to the lid
To remove the lid simply deflect the ball seal located in the recessed center of the lid
What Do I Use To Create The Vacuum?
There are a number of choices. Most modern counter-top bag sealers, like Food Saver, come with a vacuum port. Other options are the This Sucks! manual vacuum pump, and the This Sucks Big Time! electric pump, both available from That Seals It!
How Do I Release The Vacuum?
Releasing the vacuum to remove the lid is super easy. Just deflect the ball valve to the side with your finger. The valve is located in the recessed area in the center of the lid.
What If The Lid Doesn't Seal?
Please refer to the troubleshooting guide included in the product packaging. Also, check out a detailed blog entitled “Troubleshooting: When the Can Doesn't Stay Sealed — That Seals It! - Vacuum lid for #10 can”
You can always shoot us an email or text and we’ll get right back to you.
Will The Vacuum Lid Work With Any Can?
No. The That Seals It! vacuum lid was designed to reseal the size can that is used in the freeze-dried food industry. That can is approx. 6-15/16" tall (17.62cm) X 6-1/4" in diameter (15.88cm).
ideally the top metal lid of the can should be removed using a top-cutting opener, rather than a side-cutter. Though a side-cut can will seal initially, over time the sharp edge of the can will cut the silicon seal, resulting in an inability to keep the can vacuum sealed. This scenario falls outside of the That Seals It! product warrantee.
Is The Lid Dishwasher-safe?
Absolutely. You don't have to remove the seals before sticking the lid assembly into the dishwasher, but can if you'd like.
The ball seal has a retention feature that helps keep it in place.
The rim seal has a special L-shape profile which helps center the lid on the can. Simply lay the seal loosely along the lid groove with the L-shape away from the groove. Then start gently pressing the seal down into the groove being careful not to stretch the seal. Stretching won't do any harm. The seal just needs to be equally distributed along the groove. Try using 12 o'clock -> 3 -> 6 -> 9 starting points and then finish going around.
Is The Vacuum Lid Safe To Use With Food?
Yes. All of the materials are food-grade FDA approved.
The lid is made from polycarbonate plastic, and the seals are silicon.
Additionally, polycarbonate plastic is a barrier to both UVA and UVB radiation, so the clear lid does not let in light that can degrade food quality.
Is The Lid Certified For Long-term Food Storage?
No, it has not been offically certified, but that has never been the designed usage intent for the vacuum lid. The TSI lid enables people to access their food investment without risking spoilage and avoiding the hassle of transferring food to other containers.
